ECA- For prin applicant or for spouse too?- urgent clarification pls

when we obtain this ECA, do we need to get the same assessed

1. Only for the principal applicant (mandatory)
2. For both principal applicant and spouse who is accompanying the principal applicant (is this mandatory??)
