I am Canadian citizen, sponsoring my wife via outland application. Please clarify whether date of medical test determine the duration of validity of PR visa?

For example if we've sent application in December 2018, Medical test done on May 1, 2019.
So if PR visa will be issued around December 2019, then will it be valid for landing in Canada for 5 months until May 1, 2020?

Thanks

The COPR is typically valid until the medicals expire, which is one year from the date they were done. So yes, your rough timeline above is correct but strange things sometimes happen.

This is unless the passport associated with the COPR expires first, if I remember correctly.

In case the VO will issue CORP which validity will end well before medical test anniversary, can I argue and request extension of CORP until medical test anniversary? Is there any law which regulate this issue?

The validity of passport is not an issue here, passport is valid for a few years ahead.

Thanks

Will issue or has issued?

There is no law about this, as far as. I'm aware. You could raise an enquiry, but generally your COPR is not negotiable. You need to land with it, even a soft landing.

"May issue," or "what if IRCC issues...", then.

If it hasn't happened to you, don't worry about it yet. I have not seen anyone issued a COPR that expires before their medicals.
