I was first admitted to Canada in February 2014, after my skilled worker application was approved.
After staying just for a week I had to leave the country for family matters. I'm planning get back to Canada in October this year. My question is, as PR of Canada how long I can stay in overseas one at a time.

You must maintain 2 out of 5 years in Canada in the first 5 years of becoming a PR (this is determined by your landing date, NOT any dates printed on your physical PR card) and then you must maintain 2 years out of any 5 rolling years thereafter. So, essentially, in your first 5 years as a PR you can stay OUTSIDE of Canada for not more than 3 years. After the first 5 years you would have to maintain your RO on a rolling basis to ensure that at any point in time looking back 5 years you have no less than 730 days INSIDE of Canada. Anything less than that and you are in breach of your RO and at risk of being reported and your PR revoked.

Remember you took the PR visa with the intent to settle in Canada and possibly one day become a Citizen. It is not a glorified travel visa to come 'visit' Canada when you like. If you treat it as such, you will likely find yourself like many others on this forum looking for a way to overcome RO breaches and the separation of family.
