Drivers License

Hi All,

Couple questions on obtaining a Canadian drivers license after landing as a PR.

1. My US drivers license expired in November 2017 after I left the USA. Can I use this to obtain a Canadian drivers license without having to go through all the tests?

2. I still have a valid Indian drivers license. Is this acceptable to the Canadian authorities or do I need to get an International Driving Permit?

I believe I can obtain driving records from the states I lived in the US throughout my 14 year stay. Can these records and the US license (expired 6 months ago) be enough to convince the Canadian authorities to give me a full G license straight away?

Is anyone else on these forums in a similar situation? And all those who landed as PRs (especially those from the USA/India), can you please share your experiences?

Thanks!

Yes, you will be able to go for the full G.

Better call Service Ontario or MTO if in Ontario, or else, the authorities in your province.
They will tell you exactly what you need.
