Hi all,

I recently came across a post where the poster said that CIC returned the application package because the forms were downloaded from the Internet. I just read the official CIC site, and it clearly states to download the forms, complete them electronically (they prefer them that way), and send...

So what's up with CIC sending back an entire application package because they were printed from the computer? Makes no sense.

Oh, and I also noticed that on the IMM0008 form, at the bottom, where it asks for consent to share information with the province (something job related), I checked the 'yes' box but forget to write my wife's name. Would this cause them to send the package back? Does that consent part really even matter?? Or is it likely that if they are going to ask for a new form, it would be requested by the VO and not CIC-M??

Thanks,

FS

If I'm thinking of the same post, the OP had either downloaded forms and taken long enough to fill them out that the forms got updated and the old ones were no longer valid, or hadn't 'Validate'd the forms to get the bar code or something.

If that's the only issue with your application, they probably won't send the whole thing back. They may ask you to resubmit that form. I believe that this would come from the VO, after sponsorship approval, and not from CIC-M.

Yeah, I was in panic last night after reading her post.geeesh!!! FS, thank you for your reply to my last post concerning the dowloadable forms.:) I even went to the cic website for how many times to make it sure what i missed but it says the same thing, we can download and print those forms, plus i called thrice their hotline and the answering machine clearly said:Starting December of 2011 CIC wont mail the forms for the applications instead we are advised to download all the forms and print from their website.

The poster from that thread clarrified earlier that they were using old forms and cic returned the package and asked them to use the updated forms especially with the ones that has barcodes.

You guys are scaring me...I don't remember seeing the barcodes on my application. Where are the barcodes? I did download mine from the internet but I filled out by hand. I can't check right now cause the copies of my application are in the bedroom where my baby is sleeping...don't want to wake him up. I remember everyone talking about keeping the barcodes up, etc...but never saw the barcodes. I will have to check tomorrow. Can you tell me some of the forms that have the barcodes, cause I seriously remember seeing none.

The barcodes only appear on two forms: 1) IMM0008 and 2) IMM1344. In order to generate the barcodes, you need to complete the form electronically (after validating)...otherwise they will not be generated. This is important and I am pretty sure it is a requirement. I don't think it will be a problem...they'll just request for you to send the form again with the barcodes.

I'm sure most applications have minor flaws or mistakes. CIC has to be a little flexible...it wouldn't make sense for CIC to be too rigid...however, if it's a requirement, I guess they wouldn't have much of a choice...

I strongly suggest for everyone to complete ALL IMM forms electronically. For the ones you can't save, simply print a copy so when it's time to finish, you can reference the hard copy. Doing this would eliminate potential mistakes. It's also easier for the VO to read, and IMO, it looks more professional.

I can't believe I missed that!! I thought cause i was filling it out by hand I didn't have to worry about any of that stuff. I posted a question on that topic just to get ideas from other people on this topic also. I'm sure you are right though, but I rather hope not =) That would really suck cause then I would basically have to wait again for my sponsorship application to be looked at again. The instruction guide didn't say anything about those forms having to be filled out electronically...it only said to fill out by hand or electronically but they prefer electronically. I filled it out by hand cause I like the thought of being able to look at the entire page all at one time instead of scrolling around on the form. I feel like I won't make a mistake as easy that way, but guess I was wrong about that in this case.

I'm afraid that I am correct in my understanding. IMM008 and IMM1344 need to be completed electronically and then validated to generate barcodes.

Sorry.

Hopefully the delay won't be a great one and it will work in my favor of moving in the summer of 2013 when my son is done kindergarten. Thanks for the info Fencesitter! If you didn't post this, it would've came as a surprise to me, so thanks!

I saved them to my computer and have filled them out electronically piecemeal, but by doing it this way I am not getting a validate option. I figured I could print them regardless, as the site says the validation is just to make sure nothing is left blank to save time in your process. But from this I am getting the picture I should better go bank and fill them out from the site?

Thanks!
