Dear,
You are right that IELETS score is valid for 2(tow) years but for accademic purposes.For immigration,it should not be of more than one year at time of application.
This is my understanding.
Seniors correct me if m on mistake.

Dear swapnochary,
Generally IELTS(both academic and general training) is valid for 2 years. However, CIC was accepting only General training IELTS which must not be more than 1 year old from June 26,2010. CIC even returned post june 2010 applicantions who sent IELTS result which is more than 1 year.Now, according to the lasted change took place on 23 Dec,2010; CIC increased IELTS validity from 1 year to 2 years and it is definitely a good news for upcoming applicants.
