My question may sound silly but I want to be safe than sorry.

I am not sure but I think I read somewhere on this forum that if applicant cancels/don't accept the ITA or PNP nomination or simply don't do anything till it expires then his express entry profile also expires. Is it really the case ?
I need to cancel my SINP nomination as luckily I got ITA without it. Now just want to be sure with the process. (Though I believe hitting "Don't accept" button should do it smoothly but like any other applications, CIC express entry applications may not be 100 % bug free ;D)

I believe you can reject a PNP nomination without any negative fallout for your EE profile, but not responding to it either way within the 30 day window that you get to accept it causes your profile to expire.
You can verify this by opening your Express Entry profile, and scrolling to the table where it lists the status of your profile. It will probably say 'Active,' and there will be a small ? icon next to it. Click on this icon, and it will give you information on how Expired profiles work.

Accept the ITA and proceed with the application. PN will lapse on its own. You can choose to send a mail to SINP informing them about the situation.

Just checked, Asivad is right, you can let it lapse without any issues, you don't even need to reject it!
Good luck!
