I am outside of Canada and it is time to renew my wife's Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) for our annual trip to visit the family. She needs to get a medical done, but my question is, can immigration medicals be 'doubled up'?

We just sent her application for Permanent Residency (PR) about 4 days ago, with the medical all complete and registered electronically with immigration. Can her PR medical be used as her TRV medical also, or does she need to do another medical? It would save a lot of hassle, x-rays and money if they can be 'doubled-up' if they are done within a certain period of time.

You need a medical for a TRV too? From which country are you applying? Can you contact the Canadian embassy/consulate where you are to ask them about your query?

When we applied for a visitor record for my husband they asked for proof of medical as well. He had his done in September so we uploaded a copy of the receipt and the other paper the Dr gave us as proof he had already had one within the last year.

Does a medical for a TRV have to be from a PANEL PHYSICIAN too? If yes, would seem logical that it would be acceptable for both...but then guess it depends whether the clinic would provide anything to an applicant (for the sake of a TRV) beyond what they are obliged to send directly to CIC for the PRV. Gotta be more specific info somewhere in the various CIC web sites, no?

The applicant is a Filipino national resident in Qatar. Yeah, it needs to be a panel physician, and no, I haven't been successful finding more info on the websites. As for getting a reply from Abu Dhabi...well, I'll their customer service levels aren't what they could be. ::)

When I applied for my tourist visa in January 2014 I included a copy of my medicals which I did for my PR application in April 2013. I received my tourist visa 10 days later
