I am about to file a Family sponsorship for Permanent Residency in Canada-- the immigrant outside the country option.
I am a Brazilian citizen and a US resident for over 20years (I failed to get citizenship, unfortunately and now I no longer qualify for it, due to extended family visits to Brazil to take care of my terminally ill mother). I AM MARRIED TO A CANADIAN.
I was advised to file through the US instead of Brazil.
MY BIG BURNING QUESTION IS:
***Does a US resident instantly looses her green card once the application for permanent residency in Canada is filed?***
( I wouldn't mind losing the US residency ONCE i got the canadian one, but in the meantime I need to go back to the US and work!-- I am currently in Toronto on a job leave)
Thank you all so much for your help!

No.

No but you will lose it when you no longer live in the US.
