Hello forum,
My friend’s husband and her bestfriend were having an affair. When she confronted them, the husband tricked her and showed her dummy tickets indicating that they were going on a short trip to somewhere but he took her back to Pakistan. And then he told her that he was going to another city in Pakistan to visit his parents but he came back to Canada and also brought their PR cards back with him to Canada.
She is pregnant and has a 6-year-old girl. He didn’t leave any finances with them. She has her doctor appointments ahead. She wants to come back for her delivery.
I contacted RCMP on her behalf, they said she needs to contact the consulate but Islamabad consultate is not even listening to her.
What could be done to bring her back to Vancouver?

She needs to apply for a PRTD.

The card has been stolen. It is not the husband's property to withhold.

Agree but she will have to sort out some sort of financial arrangement if she doesn't have her own bank account or access to their joint account if they have one. She needs to plan ahead if her husband is not around when she come back to Canada. Can she find her own apartment. Does she have support to deliver the baby alone? Think getting the PRTD is the easy first step of a much bigger problem.

Depends how she got PR. If she was sponsored by her husband, then he is financially responsible for her for three years after the date she landed and got PR. If it's been more than three years, he is no longer responsible for her financially from an immigration perspective.

That is a tricky question. Is she on the lease or does she co-own their home? If not, he probably doesn't need to let her into their home. Once/If they get a divorce she could eventually be awarded spousal support and cild support but that could take quite a while. Unless the husband is very wealthy it is usually not enough to support her and the children without her having to work. Also depends on the cost of living where she lives. The big issue is what does she do now? Does she have her own savings? The husband doesn't have to support her now but has to pay back the government if she goes on welfare. Sounds like if she comes back to Canada she will need to arrange and pay her own way for a while if her husband refuses to give her money or let her return to their home.
