My common-law partner is sponsoring me under family class. I'm wondering if I also need to submit a letter of employment as well or only she does?

Could they ask the principal applicant for one as well for after the process starts? Is this common? Maybe some members who have been through the process can confirm.

I don't believe that it's a mandatory document even from the sponsor. However, it's the sponsor who is financially responsible for the applicant, so the income evidence needs to come from them. Pretty sure I never provided one in my application as the PA. My wife however did so.

CIC is only considering the sponsor's ability to repay Social Assistance, if the PA decides they need to use it. Also, Low-Income is not assessed against the Sponsor for spousal applications. So, there is no employment letter required for either (unless the Sponsor cannot prove they are employed any other way (NoA? Option C? Paystubs? Contracts? etc).
