Does the application status change when it's being processed

Hello. I am from Sudan and I applied for a study permit using the online application. I submitted my biometrics on May 18th and my application status is "submitted" since then. The average processing time for the visa office is 5-7 weeks.

Is that normal or does the status change while the application is being processed?

well it should change from submit to open

i didnt give my figure prints yet and status is changed , i received email aswell that my status is updated
