Hi all,

I've heard varying reports on this and I'm not sure if anyone knows for sure, but I'd like to know what you think.

I have not emailed my VO since filing our application 5 months ago and I was advised that harrassing them can make them angry. And no one wants that. I recently sent them an "update" packing showing our on-going relationship proofs since we filed common-law but I have since come back to Canada to wait for the arrival of my significant other.

After I sent that package, I realized there was one thing I wanted to send but did not because it was not yet available. Now I have these extra documents, but think it would be crazy to use fedex or DHL to ship a couple pages of relationship proof all the way to POS.

I was thinking I would just send a CSE and say something along the lines of "I hope you received the update package I sent you on X date. Here is an extra document I never got to include attached to this e-mail. Thanks"

Now, I have heard that CSE's are no problem and that the person reading it will just put the info in your file. But I've also heard it the other way, that they have to pull your file "out of lineup" to add stuff to it and by doing so, you could be put at the end of the line and cause yourself delays. That's the last thing I want and the reason why I have not contacted them for any annoying little detail yet. I'm trying to be patient (and barely hanging on lol) but I don't want to harrass them and slow down mine or anyone elses processing.

So what is the concensus... does sending a document through CSE slow down processing or get your file pulled? Is it worth the risk?

Thanks!

I don't think anyone has a definite answer to that... and I don't think there is one answer either! most likely, in some case, it does create delays, and in others, it doesn't. So it's your choice, and you seem to be already very aware of the different case-scenario and their consequences....

I sent a CSE to my VO, and never got an answer. I don't know either if it created a delay or not, and I don't think I will ever know! I got approved in 4 months (second stage) by London, which is a fast VO anyway. I did send extra documents (Police Checks), and then sent a CSE because I was never sure they had arrived... but never got an answer. Some people in London got approved faster than that, and some are still waiting without "good reason" - there are so many factors that influence the file that I don't think there is ever a way to know why some files go much faster than others. The general consensus is that the easier/less complicated the case is, the faster it goes, but apart from that...

Good luck, whatever you decide.

If I were in your shoes I would send the CSE with the docs attached. I don't see how doing that would slow down the processing of your app.
I emailed them once and then had to send them 40 pages of info that they later requested, that did not slow down my app, as PoS finalised me in about 5 months.

Thanks a lot :) I'm at the 5 month mark... C'monnnnnnnnnnnn

CIC does state that one of the things that can cause a delay is sending a CSE. I believe they are just trying to stop people from pestering them constantly, and doubt that one CSE would do much, but still ...
I would just send the extra document to the visa office to be attached to your file, and not send it in a CSE.

So I actually tried to send a CSE to POS and got a server timeout error several times (even called a friend to get her to try and she got the same thing).. Happened yesterday too. So I'm thinking maybe it's a sign that I'm not supposed to send one lol.. Oh my.

Thanks :)

5 months from my application reaching POS.

Sending a CSE everyday at 2:43pm asking "am I approved yet?" would quite likely annoy any VO to no end certainly, but a reasonably timed CSE, particularly one where you're providing additional info should not have any impact on the processing of your file.

Thanks Zouk. I actually tried several times last night and kept getting a database error from the POS CSE website. I asked a friend to try and on her computer and she got the same thing.. so I dunno if I even CAN send one.

Probably just some system updates or something, should be fixed soon
