I have used the CIC self evaluation to see if I have enough education and work experience to begin the immigration process as a skilled worker.

The work experience portion of the CIC states that the experience must be within the Skill type 0 or skill levels A or B of the NOC and occurred in the last 10 years to be valid.

I worked most recently for 2 years at a cable company as a Technical support rep(8 months) and then as an installation support dispatcher(16 months)

Previous to that I worked 4 years part time in a college computer lab as a " Computer Lab Assistant"
For the computer lab and technical support jobs I think they could be classified as a Skill Level B Major Group 22 code 228(Technical Occupations in Computer and Information Systems) on the NOC matrix.

1. Is this a correct group for what was face to face computer tech support and then call centre support?

Also the CIC says "You have at least one continuous year of full-time, paid work experience or the equivalent in part-time continuous employment."

2. What would 4 years of part time work experience be worth? It was 20 hours a week summers off.

Unfortunately It looks like my installation dispatch experience isn't valuable enough because its under Skill Level C.

3. Is it really true that this job doesn't help me at all?

Thank you for your time.

I do want to add that the dispatch job was not a dispatch job in the classic sense. I basically sent/received technical information from cable/internet/telephony installers and assisted them in adding equipment, configuring the system via a pc. There was also moderate troubleshooting and customer education. The last important thing we did was add any changes the customer wanted and closed out the work order which gave the customer tv internet or phone service. The thing that everyone used to say about that job was that we weren't really dispatchers as most people would think of them. I just don't know if I can claim it as technician experience because "dispatch" is in the title...
