Does my inland OWP or common law application number give me implied/maintained status while waiting?

I received my AOR for inland common law sponsorship and my OWP. I also just received request for my OWP biometrics.

My current Visitor Visa expires at the end of the month. Do I need to extend my visitor visa again? or does my OWP or common law application number give me implied/maintained status for now?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, just can't seem to find a definite answer anywhere.

The OWP application gives you implied status until a decision is made in that application.

I read a few conflicting things, they seemed to imply this was maybe only the case if you were previously on a work visa? or study visa?

I can't seem to find any information on being in Canada and having an application submitted for the sponsorship and the open work permit while on a tourist visa.

I obviously don't want to make an error and jeopardise everything at such a vital time. So safe to say... I'm a little panicked and want to be 100% sure.

It doesn't matter what your status was before. As long as the OWP reached IRCC before your current status (in your case, visitor) expires - you can remain in Canada under implied status (in your case as a visitor).

Those question raised were mostly related to if they can continue to work or study.

For your case, you have implied status as a visitor (as stated above). So you can continue to stay as a visitor until your get the OWP approved.
So you cannot work until you have the OWP. But you can stay legally.

Thanks for all the responses, I called IRCC as well to confirm. Can confirm that due to the fact I have evidence of an application number for my OWP and the Sponsorship application, I do not need to extend my current visitor record. My new applications basically take over and I'm now regarded as maintained status due to waiting on those applications, and no longer need to rely on the visitor record that I had been for the last couple of years.

Yes,. If you already have an application number, that means you have submitted a completed application. So it will not be returned. That means you have imply status from your OWP application.
