Hello, My name is Mitch.

I have been traveling all over Asia for 5 months and I met up with a girl I have been talking to for about 8 months now.

We have now been in a relationship for 4 months and I go back to my home country (canada) in December.

I want her to come with my to spend Christmas with my family, so we started looking into applying for a visitor visa for her.

I would be providing all the financial support, and invitation letter ect.

But my question is, since we are not married, and we are not legally common-law since we haven't been together for 1 year.. does she actually stand a chance of being accepted for the visitor visa? We are almost half way done the application checklist. Mostly she just need to upload pictures of her passport, and a picture of her.. also my banking statements I need to upload still... Then the big one.. **Purpose of Travel - Other (required)** ... This one is difficult. we are saving this for last because this is the one where we need to actually purchase a plane ticket home for her to assure she is not trying to stay in the country.

So this is why I am asking, does she stand a chance to get accepted? before we go any book plane tickets.

Any and all input is appreciated, thank you for your time!

You do not need to purchase plane tickets to submit the application. In fact, we very strongly recommend against it. Just provide the itinerary she wants to fly if approved.

Her chances of approval are likely on the low side unless she has significant past travel to countries requiring visas such as the US and UK and can demonstrate strong ties to her home country. It would be best if she can provide her bank balance and show she has enough funds to travel rather than you providing yours. IRCC wants to see that the person applying has enough money for the trip.

Okay, thank you for the info!
She has money, so we will upload her bank statements to the application. I just didn't want her to need to use her money. but thank you for letting me know I should provide proof of her having funds.
she does have a job in Indonesia and will be taking 3-4 months leave.
She has never had to apply to another countries visa because she mostly only has visited Malaysia, Singapore before.

Do you have any other tips on ways to increase the chances of it being approved?
Thank you

3-4 months leave is way way way too long. If you ask for this refusal is guaranteed since this shows she effectively has no real ties to her home country and likely has plans on remaining in Canada long term. She should be asking for a 2-3 week trip maximum and any leave letters from her employer should show the same.

So what would be the best way to go about this?... write on application I want her to come for 2-3 weeks? .. then it will be issued for a 6 month visa? Thank you. Also yes her employer will provide letters of leave

Hi.. If I may suggest the following:
Do not purchase a ticket... what I did was get a travel itinerary and upload that... show the dates she plan to travel and the dates she will return... as others recommend only state maximum of 1 month.
Let her get a strong letter from her employment stating salary if possible and maximum leave 1 month.
From the time you mentioned more time big chance of refusal... because most companies do not give so many leave for just casual vacation.
As for bank statement... you can show yours under other documents and state in your letter of Invitation that you have enough funds to cover, accommodation, travelling and meals during her stay in Canada.
But it will be great for her to upload her bank statement.

Hope this helps.
