My daughter is an ice skater from Mexico. She went to train to Toronto in July for summer camp to get international exposure and high quality training. She entered Canada with a regular permit for 6 months until december 31st. Summer camp ended on September and we did the candian visa for mexicans request in August 19, one month before the summer camp finished and more than 4 months before the permit expired. She did not pay any twition or fee to be there, she only pays the ice time and during her sessions she gets help from coaches who charge a fee for their time, there is no obligation with any school or training center, payment to be done or commitmente for certain amount of time.

When we did the papers she was already skating and the training center gave us a letter saying she was going to be there for one year. She wanted to register in a school as she finished high school and wanted to take some courses at a university. She is 17 years old. In the process we asked for study permit so she can register at school but we considered that ice skating and the way it's managed did not require any special permit. We asked the embassy several times for information but we did not get any help or attention for 3 months. They invited my daughter to an inteview and asked for medical examinations which she did.

We spend over $2,500 ca in the process and no one from the embassy followed up with us. During the interview the immigration officer asked if someone from our family has ben treathened for the mexican gang so he said he was going to give visas for my wife, my daughter and for me (I was not allowed to enter the interview) but my son could not get the visa because the country does not want families moving to Canada. They steped out of the office and in a couple of minutes he got back and called my daughter to tell her that his boss did not approved her visa or study permit, then they called my wife and told the same thing. The refusal letter says that my daughter was studying ilegally in Canada and that she will be punished with 6 months with no chance to reapply. Then my wife told the officer we had some things in Canada and he said he was going to give a visa to me for 1 year to get our stuff out.

Can we contest the decision? Do we have chance to get our visas? We are an up middle class family with business with good income and properties in Mexico. My daughter needs to keep training and we don't know what to do, she's got an international competition invitation for next year in her last junior year and she could lost her chance to compete because of this refusal.

Hopefuly someone can help us.
