Dear virtual friends,

Recently my status has changed “In Process” and I already received the notification letter for the Medicals and new Police Certificate.
Meanwhile I am living in a European country with the status of Permanent Residence. This month me and my family win the right to become citizen of the country where we live and we already begun the procedure.

Do you think that this change will arise any problem to my emigration visa to Canada.
Does the Canadian law accept dual citizenship???

Any idea please....

So you mean that it will not be a problem if I will have the new EU citizenship approved before the VO issued me the visa (if God has decided this for me and my family :))?
Thank you!

Yep...
Dual Nationality is OK.

BUT you are PR of European Country, and will become Citizens, so that means that you are Citizens of another country as well. That is already 2. So if you will be Canadian Citizen (After PR) then would that not be 3 ?

Dual is allowed, no idea about 3.

Thank you for your explanations; this is exactly what I am asking for.

Meanwhile I can delay (on purpose) for some months the process of taking the new EU citizenship if this will be a problem for my Canadian dream.

My decision to immigrate to Canada is very important to me, it is more a matter of ideology rather than for economical problems (no racism in Canada, real democracy, better chances for my kids, better schools etc etc).

Dear All,

We already received our PR in early June with the PR immigration visa attached in our home country passports and we are thinking to land forever in the early of November.

Meanwile we win the citizenship of the european country, where we are currently living. We received last week the new passports from this EU country. So, in this moment: firstly we have dual citizenship and secondly these new EU passports give us the right to travel to Canada as tourist without a visa, this is because it is a visa extemp country.

I have two important questions for you friends:

First one: Are obligated to inform the VO that we change our residence status in the country where we are living from permanent residence to citizenship, and if we do so there will be any problem with our PR?

The seccond: Can we travel the first time as tourist visitors to Canada, for two weeks during the August, with our passports of the extempt visa country and the second time to travel to Canado in November and to proceed the landing procedure with the passports of our home country that have the PR visas attached.

Thank you for your time in advance!

Congratulations on getting PR of both Canada and now Italy.

1. After getting your PR, you are not obligated to inform them anything about your new status. Once you're in Canada this November, do let this know to CIC, they might ask you if you wanna keep the dual citizenship or choose any one. you are free to choose both/anyone. I have seen people in the US having both Canadian and US citizenship at the same time.

2. Yes, No problem at all.

I wonder why you're choosing Canada as your permanent residence ahead of Italy?

Thank you, friend for prompt answer,

The major reason that we choose Canada ahead of EU is that we are tired all these years feeling all the time as foreigners here in EU even thought we have succeeded somehow here.
And of course we can mention better schools, plenty of chances and equality for our kids and better health system for all of us.
The only thing we are afraid of Canada is the cold climate but we hope we will use to that after some time.

Thanks again

I have seen its always very much difficult to settle in a new country from a country where one is well settled.
For White collar jobs, you'd need Canadian Education, new friends, new city, new everything.
Italy's current GDP is higher than that of Canada's.
See , you might have better Chances in Canada. who knows !
