Hi,

My girlfriend is South Korean and she wants to come and live with me for a time period longer than 6 months (it works out best for us if it can be 8 months).

Since the tourist visa is 6 months long, and we're not sure if we want to get married yet, I need a way to get permission from the Canadian government so that the girl I love can legally stay with me in my own home.

I was wondering if we can go on a trip to Mexico for a week or so and when she comes back she will get a new 6 month allowance.

I know the rules for the US tourist visas are that Mexico and Canada don't count. I dont know if its the same for the Canadian system. What if we go to Jamaica? What about a central American country, maybe Nicaragua?

Thanks very much for your help.
