Documents to support identity in passport application, copy or original document

Section (L) of the instruction page of passport application written as provide at least one document to support your identity with the name appear in the passport.

Question about this statement, do I have to submit just the copy of the government issued provincial ID with guarantor signed on it OR the original ID itself OR both ?

You may submit original documents. They will be returned to you.

If you are submitting photocopies, you must copy both sides of the document and have your guarantor sign and date the photocopies (both sides) to indicate the originals have been seen. If you are submitting photocopies (both sides) but are using form PPTC 132, "Statutory Declaration in Lieu of Guarantor" (available from any Passport Canada office or by telephone), or are using form PPTC 326, "Statutory Declaration in Lieu of Guarantor for a Travel Document", the official who signs the "Declaration" must also sign and date the photocopies of your identification to indicate the originals have been seen.
