The various searches on the internet hasnt really helped but what documents need to be translates for a Chinese citizen? Some sources say that the translation can be done by anyone as long as the original document is accompanied with the translation? Can anyone please confirm?

I am not sure about other documents but I had my university diploma translated just recently. I believe it has to be a certified translation (no need to be notarized), meaning a certified translation firm has to do it. I used Foxtranslate (just google their website), they're the cheapest and their turnover is fast.

Hope that helps :)

Go to the Notary Public Office(公证处) in your county or city. They usually located next to the court or even run by the court and they can provide english translation for your chinese papers.
