Docs required for Kids schooling

Dear Forum Users,

Q). What are the documents/papers required in order to get your child admitted to a school.E.g.Birth Certificate, previous school's Leaving Certificate, Vaccination cards etc.

Most of us make this important move of our lives for our kids only and thus i want to be well prepared in advance for this. Thus appreciate if you can reply us with your experience on this and guide us through.

Go to the school's website and they will list what document required to get your child for admission. In general, you would need the following document:

1) Document relating to your and child's status in Canada (such as PR cards, birth certificate)
2) Document relating to proof you and your child are living in the school's catchment area (such as property tax bill and hydro bills)

But if we are new in Canada and arrived just few days ago, then we won't be having a PR card, Property tax and Hydro bills etc.

Then what to submit.

I think you can bring your and child's landing papers too. For proof of residency, provide property purchase agreement or rental contract; and phone bill, tax notice, cable bill, etc. If you don't have any bills at the time of registration, you might want to contact the school directly if you can give them later.

In Ontario, you don't need to residential proofs to the school. Like I said before, check the school website.

My husband is a temporary work permit holder, i have an open work permit and my kids were granted study permits. We will be landing in Canada this December. I just want to ask if my kids are eligible to be enrolled in public schools? What about the school fees? Is it possible for them to be accepted though the school year has already started?

I would really appreciate your replies. Thank you in advance
