The question asks how your relationship developed after your first meeting...

Well I have visited them 14 times for month or more each trip. I can't remember about each and every trip, most of the time all we did was go out for dinner and watch a movie nothing exciting really! Do i have to write about every trip since we first met (because it would be about 12 pages!) or does the question just want to know about the first meeting?

That's one of the questions where you really get to go into detail about how real your relationship is. It's worth spending some time documenting the course of your relationship, who visited who, and including photos from different visits, trips together, family events, showing your relationship over a period of time. Use extra pages. Convince them you're relationship is genuine and continuing.

Remember, the more evidence you give them the better. You may not have to go into every single detail, but give them a general idea of what you guys did, and make sure you at least mention how many times you've visited each other and for how long.

They want to know about the emotional development of your relationship - when you fell in love, was it gradual or love at first sight, when you both decided it was serious, how and when you discussed getting married or living together, stuff like that. They want to see that your relationship has gotten deeper and more meaningful.
This includes how often you saw each other and what you did together, but your 'development of relationship' essay should not just be a list of when you saw each other and what you did. Still, you should include details of each trip. Going to see someone 14 times for a month or more each time is good evidence your relationship is real.

ok then looks like i have a long night a head! I've already written 2 pages and i'm only up to november 2006! ???

can i say that we looked into getting me a visa to live there and contacted an immigration lawyer who said we had to get married first. So then we both talked about getting married and decided to, or does that look too much like marriage just for a visa?

I wouldnt put that no, it does kinda make it sound like you decided to get married for visa reasons and you dont want that to be the case, especially with the new rules that just came into play. Dont mention what the immigration lawyer told you. You will be married when you post off the application, is that right? If yes, just mention the engagement details. Or if not, dont mention being engaged, as there is no fiance category!

I would omit this detail.

yes i will be married before I submit my application. He did actually propose but years after we first originally talked about having to get married (2006) he proposed in 2009

Ok well you will be fine. Dont even mention immigration lawyer. You have been together for years, will be married with years of evidence to back up your long relationship. You really have nothing to worry about.
JUST DONT MENTION BEING TOLD TO GET MARRIED TO GET A VISA!!!

is not that we dont love each other enough TO get married lol! but yes i will not put this

haha good! im so excited to get married and then finally live in canada! i cant wait to get rid of my british accent and sound north american haha
