Hello All,

My immigration status: Full time open work permit in Canada.

My current and future CRS : current score is 410 without 1 year Canadian experience. But with 1 year Canadian experience it would be 500. Which will be on end of January-2021 or beginning of the February-2021. To be precise I joined fulltime job on 21st of February-2020 so will be able to complete 1 year on Feb-2021.

My current situation: I am currently in India for vacation and also doing work from home from India for my Canadian employer. Based on the current schedule will be back to Canada on second week of January-2021. There is a chance of flight cancellation due to new type of Corona virus that has been detected to UK.

My queries:
> Is my current schedule or vacation affect the number of days to complete one year of Canadian experience on 21st of February-2021?
> If the flight to Canada would cancelled due to COVID and I would stuck in the India but will continue my job with Canadian employer remotely then would that experience count towards my Canadian experience for my express entry?

Thank you in advance.

How many weeks holiday does your employer give you? Your paid vacation counts but any additional remote work outside Canada doesnt count for Canadian employment experience.

Thank you very much for your reply.
My employer is giving me 2 weeks per year paid holiday.
If I will continue work from outside of Canada on paid basis due to flight cancellation then would it count for the Canadian experience?

No it is not Canadian experience. Canadian experience is working in Canada. You are working working remotely for a Canadian company.

I think the Canadian experience here is tricky because of covid. You can claim canadian exp if you can show that there were no return flights to canada allowed during this period.

I think it will be difficult to argue that flight cancellations prevented you from traveling. People are still flying from India to Canada regularly. If you chose not to return to Canada, that will be due to personal choice.

You should assume that anything beyond a couple of weeks outside of Canada will be counted as foreign work experience.
