Hi,

Do we need original acceptance letter for Visa and Medicals? The problem is that my univ people are saying, it may take another while that the offer letter arrive here. So, I'm thinking if i ask my univ. to provide me the scanned copy. Will it work? I know i'm already late to apply for visa but wanted to have your advice on this. Please advise.

Regards,
JS

Hi JS,

I would suggest you to provide scanned copy but write a brief letter and mention that you will be submitting the original letter once you receive it. Also mention that there is some issue with Canada post, which is the reason for delay in receipt of admission letter. Hope it will work.

@Se7en, I mean read somewhere on this forum somebody submitting the photo/scanned copy without giving any letter/reason.

Please advise bro

Hello Dear,

Actually University/college send two copies of Acceptance Letter. One for student and one for Embassy.
So you'll have to send embassy's copy to CHC. As far as delay is concerned, I think Mr se7en has said absolutely right, that you somehow get scanned copy from your university and write a letter to CHC. I think they will not take any action. By the way, have your university dispatched your letter yet or not?

Hi Nightrocker,

Yea - they have dispatched but they say it may take another 4 - 6 weeks

Are those two copies identical. I mean is it mentioned anywhere "for embassy purpose" like something on it?

If you are in India, you can definitely submit the scanned copies of "all" documents you submit.

I received this information from a Visa Officer in CHC New Delhi, during a seminar they had conducted few months back.

Hi again

JS just dont worry bro.

They do verify everything and scanned copy is not a fake document. A brief letter will help both you and VO, atleast he will have an idea why original is missing.

Best of Luck

I'm in the same situation,I do have an original Recommendation letter from the Department but the LOA will take somee time to arrive and I think my letter got misplaced in the post since its already been more then 45 days and my LOA has still not arrived so I asked the uni to provide another letter so this will take some time.
In the mean time can I apply too?
I emailed the CHC ISlamabaad inquiry office and told them about my situation and got a reply that apply with the Original Letter.
Has anyone here applied with a scanned copy?
will it make things worse?
Thanks

hey Js submit ur scanned copy but do not forget to mention the thing which seven have said. It wud be a big blunder believe me coz one of my friend was rejected becoz he showed only scan copy. SO mention that in ur cover letter that as soon as u receive ur orignal letter of acceptance u will send it to CHC.

thanks for your inputs. they are very helpful.

I think i should wait till next week atleast and if still the original does not come, I'll go ahead and use that scanned one along with the reason in cover letter and/or SOP. I hope this works.

Please correct me if i'm wrong but SOP and Cover letter serves the same purpose, right? Or they needs to be seperate one and both can be submitted together.

Regards,
JS

JS it depends how good you write. If you can place the reason for scanned copy in SOP/Cover letter then fine. Otherwise make a letter in staple it with you LOA.

Best of Luck.

SOP is basically your thoughts that you want to convey to VO.. It will have all the details why you selected this course, Canada and your specific institute and how will it be beneficial for you along with study and work background. Lastly you mention why you should be coming back to your home country. In short, you are answering all questions which typically a VO might ask you face to face.

Cover letter is something you tell to VO that you may think will help him in making decision more accurately. For example, You sent a scanned copy instead of original, VO expects original and he will be confused why you haven't sent proper documentation. So you will tell in Cover letter that for XYZ reasons, I am attaching scanned copy. This will reduce his curiosity on the matter.

You can also include your first stay address in the cover letter. It tells VO that you have completed your Home Work and you some where to go to when you land. You can also breakdown your expenses in light of the bank statements attached.. Any other specific thing that you want to tell to VO while he considers your case. You may also include your medical insurance details, whether you are purchasing yourself or your institute is getting it for you etc

they are very helpful tips. I hope i got it se7ev, jigzyy.

That's what i was little confused with. I was actually thinking to merge both of them together. Now that you made it clear that both SOP and Cover letter are separate things and both can be submitted together. I need to think it with different perspective. Please feel free to correct me if i'm still getting it wrong.
