Hi.,

Now that the ministry have let out the new list of 38 Jobs., I have a query on the NOC's listed!
I'm particularly interested in NOC 0213 ( Computer and Information Systems Managers ).
As per my job description and title, I fit exactly in NOC 2171 (Information Systems Analysts and Consultants).
When I visit http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC-CNP/app/quicksearch.aspx?lc=e&searchkey=0213 ., I find NOC 2171 under classified elsewhere., likewise., when I visit http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC-CNP/app/checkversion.aspx?lc=E&noccode=2171&code=2&level=2 ., I find NOC 0213 under classified elsewhere.
As they are interlinked in someway., does it mean., would any new application on that NOC, be accepted ? That said., I'm yet to apply for PR!
PMM., other experts., please shed some light !!!

Hello, I´m in the same situation (NOC 2173) and I think that we can´t know for sure how the instructions will be interpreted.
We got two options:
1. If the “manager” word is so important I guess we can´t get into the classification.
2. If they take all the associated NOCS, we can be lucky.

Hi All,
The published list is very limited as compared to the whole NOCs approximately amounting to merely 7% (there are around 530 NOC).
Can anyone clarify the "classified elsewhere" under the NOC lists. What do these "classified NOCs" have to do with the 38 published lists?

Classified Elsewhere

The classified elsewhere section helps to clarify the boundaries of the unit group by identifying similar groups or occupations that are separately classified.

As long at least 1 year of your experience in a shortlisted occupation took place in the past ten years, yes.

No, the classified elsewhere refers to related jobs.

Hi.,

Looks like related NOC's might qualify.

I was browsing through the news in canadavisa.com and found this ( http://www.canadavisa.com/new-instructions-federal-skilled-worker-applications.html )

I clicked the NOC ( 0213 Computer and Information Systems Managers ) and I found the following statement ...

Applicants with experience in the following occupations may also be considered under this NOC depending on the specifics of the main duties performed:

* Computer and information systems supervisors (in 217 Computer and Information Systems Professionals)
* Computer Engineers (Except Software Engineers and Designers) (2147)
* Computer Programmers and Interactive Media Developers (2174)
* Computer services company presidents (in 0013 Senior Managers - Financial, Communications and Other Business Services)
* Database Analysts and Data Administrators (2172)
* Information Systems Analysts and Consultants (2171)
* LAN managers (in 2281 Computer Network Technicians)
* Software Engineers and Designers (2173)

As quoted earlier, I fit exactly in NOC 2171., both titlewise and description wise.,

Since this is a site run by Campbell Cohen., should I take this for real and apply or wait ?

I think what they are referring to is that you could classify yourself under different NOC's and maybe when you are in a NOC that is related to one that is on the list, you might be able to also fit the one that is on the list. I don't think that CIC will automatically take your NOC if it's not on the list and figure it's ok because it's related to another one that is. You have to figure out if you can qualify yourself as the NOC that is on the list.
