I am a Canadian citizen returning to Canada after 13 years in the UK with my wife and 2 sons. I am sponsoring my wife and have applied for the boys citizenship cards. My question is do my children need to get the medical done too. They have automatic right to citizenship so it would figure that they're already Canadian and just waiting for the paper. This could save me £400.

Good answer. And do my wife and I need to declare them as accompanying dependant children on the forms even though they're already Canadian citizens and not really subject to the sponsorship length of undertaking part.

Your sons don't need medicals - they are not being sponsored for permanent residence. They are Canadian citizens so they are not included as accompanying dependents. The instructions are specific - list all dependents who are not already Canadian citizens or permanent residents. There are a couple of places for them in the forms - mostly in the sponsor's forms, but they are also included in the applicant's Form IMM5406 (Additional Family Information) as your wife's children, and you are included on that form also as her spouse.
