Hey guys...

I read here that when you go to do citizenship test, you have to take your passports with you and the agents check them. Do you guys translate all the stamps on your passports before you go ? or how do things go in regards of stamps on passport not in English or French

Personally, i will translate a stamp that is fully written in arabic... It predates my arrival to Canada but since the numbers are written in arabic, i wont take risks....

Yes, translate everything and make a photocopy of it for the interview. Many people here got RQ because of some untranslated stamps.

Thank you very much guys,, after i came to canada i made one trip only... all the stamps on my passport are from trips i made BEFORE I came to canada.

Do you guys know ant legitimate community center that helps translating the stamps for low cost? in toronto or ottawa?

I'm in Montreal and certified translators here charge between 15 and 25$ per page, it must be the same pricing in the rest of Canada.

My advice to you is to go to a recognized translator, member of a translators board and certified by the government.

thank you ramsf

where can i find some here in toronto? i have like 100 stamps on my passport ( all of them from trips before i even came to canada) as i had this passport for almost 6 years now

;) as discussed on the other thread, if the passport expired before you even come to Canada, no need to translate or to show anything to anyone... you only have to show the valid or expired passports that you had in the last four years. ( expired after you came to Canada...)

yes that is the point
i came to Canada in Nov 2008

passport expired in Dec 2009

I am applying for citizenship in Jan 2014

so it is just over 4 years.. that is why i am confused

I'm wondering if it's ok if I sent my application with only copies of biography pages. I did not copy the stamps inside the passport. Will my application be returned? so afraid now....

hey yuz
no no you good.. CIC will ask/check the other pages and the stamps when you go to do your citizenship test , if you dont have them translated you might have some hard time...

Oh that's another story.

Are your stamps readable in english or french ? Are the dates clear ?

Then it's best to call CIC call center and see what they tell you, and then to break a deal with a translator....

that is what I am planning to do and to be honest I am ready to pay to get it done i just want to start my application and avoid any problem
