Hi,
I applied for my Study Permit for the January intake but because of the current circumstances, I have decided to defer to the September intake. In case, I do get approval, will I have to re-apply for Visa or can I use the same approval letter at the borders and show them my new Acceptance Letter (with the new dates)? Will that be enough? Or will I have to re-apply?

Raise a web form to let IRCC know that you deferred, so that your current application will be updated.

If you can attend online classes, do not defer. Take a single course for winter term.

No, unfortunately, i can't attend online classes.
And, can you tell me about how to raise a web form? My Visa Application is online, so should i just update with the new LoA once i receive it?

Okay, since my college is in Quebec. I need to re-apply for a CAQ as well.(since we need to re-apply for CAQ if we are deferring from January to September).
I should include the new LoA and CAQ in the web form and update my current application, right?
Will re-applying for a CAQ mean that I have to re-apply for a Study Permit as well?

You will need to get a valid/new CAQ and update via webform, given that your SP application is still in progress.

Oh okay, thank you. My college has informed that my updated LoA will be processed only on January 4th since they are closing from tomorrow for holidays. I will be re-applying for CAQ immediately after. In case, I get approval for study permit before i receive my CAQ, what should I do?

As far as I understand, you will get a TRV stamped on your passport and a Letter of Introduction will be issued tp you, to be given at the Port of Entry.
A study permit is issued only at the border, as you go through the immigration counter.

I do not have the knowledge or experience to comment on 'if the SP approval needs to be changed.'

If I were in that situation, I would definitely raise a webform.
And if my travel date is too close, I wouldn't mind boarding the plane too.
I think a deferral after approval is not a big deal, given the statements in [1] and [2] above.

Should i raise the web form after I receive my new Acceptance Letter or after I receive both my new Acceptance Letter and CAQ?

Hi
Thanks for this response. I have benefited greatly from it but I have a question to ask. I have a study permit counterfoil on my passport with STUDENT. I thought I could be issued with both student and TRV visas but was surprised to see only one which is that of student with multiple entries. I applied for TRV during my on line application process. When do I receive my TRV. Is it at the port of entry?

IRCC webinar dated 17.12.20 clearly states that:
-> If your application is approved for visa / visa stamped
-> Then you need a new study permit application on a new LOA.

-< If your application is in progress, you can update your application.
