I would honestly wait until you get it. It would be worth it for them to have. I'm not sure why it would take 16 weeks though, normally it would take 6-8 weeks. Seems a little long to me. The reason I would suggest waiting until you get it, is because when you DO get it, they are going to request it anyway so it would just be a slight delay.

In any case, you CAN provide a letter explaining, but I'm pretty sure once they find out you filed for taxes and can get option C, they will request it.

I agree with Parker.

However, if you really can't wait, I'd include whatever proof you have to show that you have been fully employed and not in receipt of government assistance (welfare). If you have substantial proof, then the Option C is not really important.

I didn't submit the Option C (still waiting on approval), but that was only because the most recent one was from 1998. They want recent information, not something that is over 10 years old.

If you cannot submit an Option C check look at the document checklist it tells you exactly what they want in place of the Option C.......they may want it down the road but by then you should be able to produce it......it usually comes within a week of ordering it.......and CRA is faster these days and you may have a Notice of Assessment by the time you are ready to file your app which you can then include

This is just a note for others: if you have been a non-resident for a long time (i.e. more than 2 years), you won't have an Option C. Instead, submit tax assessments from the countries where you have been working. Also include pay stubs or annual statements from your employer. This combined with other evidence should be enough.

The way I see it, the Option C is only relevant if you've been working in Canada or for a Canadian employer abroad. Otherwise, you won't have an Option C if you've been a non-resident for tax purposes.

All that is required is a reasonable explanation along with the above mentioned documents (though strictly speaking, submitting tax assessments from abroad is not something that is a requirement, but in my opinion, it adds credence to your explanation). It's not a big deal if you don't have an Option C. There are many who have not submitted it and no problems....

thanks for the info,.... but what i mean is, this is my first time to send my income tax... because i just started working last year, and same year is my arrival and PR to canada.. thats why i dont know if i really need to wait for the CRA to send my option c.. because i already called the CRA yesterday to request my option c, and they told me that they dont have yet my records because i just send my income tax last may 2012.. and still on process, so they also told me that it would take 16 weeks before they finish my assessment... so thats why i dont know if im gonna wait for that or just send other option, because i already complete all the documents for sponsorship and the only one is missing is the option c... please help me guys..

My partner has been living out of Canada for the last three years, but was able to request an Option C. It took less than a week to send to his mum in Ottawa, who then express posted it to us. They can send it internationally, it just takes a week or two longer. (There is a number on the application to call s you can request it. - Don't use Skype, as we found they don't answer calls from Skype numbers, and were wondering why they would never pick up!)

When we eventually got through using my mobile, they sent the print-outs from 2007-2012. The years he was absent it just had the year, but "no information" (or something similar) printed on the ones that he was absent for.

Apparently along with taxable income it states whether you have received government welfare, which is the main concern; so in my opinion it's definitely worth including it. On my application it also states that the longest delays for were due to not having the Option C printout. Either way, they have the alternatives listed for what you could provide if you can't get it- but I would highly recommend including it.

I would wait until the option C is ready for you, and then send them altogether.
The application process takes three months (thereabouts) initially, so you may as well have all your documents together, rather than sending it separately down the track while you are still potentially waiting for an AOR.

that they cannot give me a copy of option c because they dont have yet my records/file...

I am assuming that even though you were only recently employed, you have been living in Canada before then, and have worked there in the past? Why not request the option C from the last time you worked up until this new financial year, even if it were a few years ago? That way they still end up with a record of it, albeit not including your most recent place of employment? (My partner supplied his from 2007-2012, just to be sure)
