oceans_end said:do they put anything in the passport like a stamp or anything? it does not matter how many days left that is still valid for right? Debating if I want to go through the hassle of renewing my passport. Hoping I can get my 2nd stage approval before the expiry date.

toby said:Why wait? You will need a new passport to leave Canada, and it takes only a few days to renew. Just make sure to keep the old passport, since if the new passport sports a new number, you might be asked to show the old number too.
steaky said:No, as long as the passport is still valid, the OP can use the passport and landing visa to Canada. After landing, if OP wants to return to China, he/she can apply for a renewed passport from the local Chinese consulate in Canada. Furthermore, according to the Chinese consulate in Vancouver, it takes approximately one month to get a renewed passport and there is no expedite services.
steaky said:Therefore it will be ideal that the PR visa is stamped one day before the expiry of your existing Chinese passport. Finger crossed.
