I was in the U.S. for a bit less than two years, finishing a degree. I was never there more than six months, as I came to visit home pretty often. I was once very close though, at about 5.5 months.

Same here but I am going to get a US PCC to be on the safe side. You will get it through the FBI website and mail them your fingerprints. With IRCC its better to be safe than sorry.

The fact that you spent 2 years in the US even though not any one period of 6 months , but close seems better to err on the safe side to avoid delays later on should IRCC ask for one which they could do.
