Hello everybody
I just applied for PR as protacted person in canada . Im married and i been unto a fight with my wife so i moved and now im not with her any more and we will go unto divorce but after one year . So do i have to make a form to cic to inform them that im not with my wife any more ? What is my status now while waiting for a year to divorce ?
Thanks for helping me

Hi,

Sorry to hear that. If you have moved out, I imagine that means you are 'separated' and have to notify CIC of the change in status. You may want to speak to an immigration lawyer or family law attorney and see what they think about filing for "legal separation".

Divorce in and of itself does not affect the immigration decision but could delay the process. Speak to an immigration lawyer and see what they think.

I called my immigration she said that my PR is under protacted person and it has nothing to do if im married or not .. Thanks sinorita but why it can delay my application process . My lawer is new in cic rules . You seems you have good knowledge ?

Someone I know went filed for divorce and informed CIC of the change in her status. They sent her new forms and if memory serves me right, I believe she told me that she had to wait for her divorce decree before the immigration process is finalized. This was years ago, so I don't know how things work today.
