Good morning everyone,

I'm currently applying for a study visa in Canada. I was accepted into film school a few weeks ago. I'm an international student from Germany.

So far I've got all my documents together, but now I've reached the stage of having to prove that I'll be able to financially support myself.

I wouldn't be paying for my stay on my own but rather my father will be sponsoring me. If I read previous posts correctly, he has to supply me with a Letter of Support which I can send in my application. What type of information needs to be in that letter ? And also my main concern is that I'm reading everywhere that I need 10.000CAD$ a year in my account (which I've already got) ON TOP OF MY TUITION FEES. All in all my tuition fees are gonna end up at around 80.000CAD$. Do I really have to have all that money in my account at the time of applying ? I mean that's quite big sum of money to just have like that. Would financial statements and records of my father be enough to prove that he'll earn enough to support me while I study?

I've already started paying off my tuition fees, and I've got a couple of receipts from the school already, I'd be handing those in with my application too.

Thanks a lot.

For financial statement, the VO need to see you have enough money to support yourself, 1 year Tuition plus 10k support would be better and higher chance of getting approved, you can submit bank statement within 4 months I guess. For letter of support, I have no idea if it is required since I did not submit mine. The other method to show sufficient funds, you can use your dad emplyment letter or contract that shows how much he gets per month/year. I used my mum's employment letter and wrote that she makes X amount of money per year from the letter. So, have something on his bank statement then back it up with his employment letter.
