I am sponsoring my common law partner for PR. Do we fill out IMM 5476 "Use of a Representative form" for me to be the representative?
I ask because on the checklist it says:

Important: If a sponsor will receive correspondence for the principal applicant, the applicant must complete their own "use of rep" form listing the sponsor as the rep. If this is not provided, the application will be returned without being processed.

Yes you fill that out and then become the applicant’s unpaid representative.

We live together and he shows me all his emails so I'm not sure what difference it would make to officially be considered a "rep". Do you know what the advantage is?
If you have access to his emails then its not needed. Its only when you want to send all correspondence to your own email is when that is needed.
