I officially moved back to Canada on April 19. I was there for almost a month and now I am back in California waiting for my husband to get a PR. I am driving with an Ontario license. I am officially a visitor. Do I have to "export" myself? Do I need to give my Canadian address to the IRS, social security - ???
I am thinking about this because of taxes. I work online and have to pay estimated taxes since I am self employed. But I do not want to pay twice! So I am thinking of paying the US estimated taxes for Jan 1 to April 19 and then pay taxes on my income to Canada after that. It is a US company but from what I understand, I still pay taxes to Canada because that is where the work is being done. I still have to file taxes with the US but I won''t owe anything because of the tax treaty.
Hope someone can help! Thanks!
