I was wondering if the canadian officers will call my current US employer to verify my employment status? How does this work? I am a little concern about this, as i could loose my job if my current employer learns of my immigration plans.
Any advice?

well they do make random verification calls to current employers.

You should write CIC to ask them not to contact your current employer. Explain that you fear losing your job your employer finds out that you plan to immigrate to Canada. This is a common scenario in North America and CIC will understand.

Be prepared to provide some proof that you are employed in the U.S. such as pay stubs and the I.R.S. W-2 form(s). You may wish to ask your employer for a genera letter of employement.

As one of the forum member suggested you, write to your local visa office explaining them the situation and send them Pay Stab and other employment proof you have. They should and might consider your request as they are pretty much aware of these situations.
