Hi all - this is my first post here - I am just beginning the process of applying for a PR visa for my husband. Looking for some advice...

Today my husband went to get his medicals done (I am currently in Canada and he is in his own country) and the DMP filled out my name and information in the "principal applicant" area of the IMM 1017, even though I am the sponsor, and my husband is the principal applicant. We just called the doctor after noticing and the doctor insists that this is the correct way to fill out the forms.

The box that says "the principal applicant is the same as above" is also checked off - however, then the doctor proceeded to put my info under the section that follows.

Wondering if this is a big deal? He also put in my information in Appendix C under "principal applicant"...

Very worried right now... hopefully someone can advise?

Thanks in advance.

The doctor did the same thing on my husband's original medical forms as well (put my info down as principal applicant). I remember questioning the terminology as well given that I am the sponsor; but it was fine.

Thanks for the response! That is reassuring - apparently others have had the same experience. So... we're going with it!

The doctor made a mistake. There are many types of immigrants, and the one this doctor is most familiar with is the one where both spouses are immigrating, one as the principal applicant and one as his/her dependent. The doctor has mixed up this common type with your type.
However, some forum members have reported that CIC was able to figure it out and everything was OK.

Personally, I'd send in a complaint to CIC about this.

Hm that's what I figured - I know it is wrong but I am hoping that whoever is processing it will figure it out. We haven't sent in our app yet - would you include this 'complaint' along with the application?

I would mention it in the application.
However, I think you should also send a complaint to CIC separately.

For ours they put my SO as the principal applicant which was correct but put 1 of his daughters as their canadian Activity permanent resident as well which was not the case. I told him it was incorrect and he insisted it was the correct way to fill out the form.

Then, for the other 2 daughters that were examined after he put 'dependent child' goodness - doctors just can't admit they are wrong lol.

I'm sure everythnig will be okay! :)
