Although it's quite early for us, I have a general question about DM and PPR.

The PA in my case is not from a visa-exempt country, FYI.

If we get to the DM stage, does that mean it's a positive sign? Or can DM also possibly mean that a decision has been made not to grant PR (hopefully not)?

And after DM, if you get PPR, can you then assume that that's only for visa stamping purposes?

It depends what happens prior to the DM. If you hear absolutely nothing leading up to it, then it's a positive sign. If they contact you requesting more evidence of a genuine relationship, OR request that you attend an interview then . . . perhaps not so positive.

Well let's say you are asked to send in more evidence or attend an interview, then you get DM, I imagine that could go either way, but if you get PPR, can you assume that's to have the visa stamped?

That is usually the case, yes.

I have a question about PPR...

I am not from a visa-exempt country, however, I am already living in Canada with a work visa valid for another year and a half. We are going through Ottawa VO and am assuming based on eeryone else's timelines that should be receiving DM soon (applied Nov 1 and so far everything seems to be going well, haven't heard anything from CIC since they updated the 3rd line medical results have been received).

Once DM shows, will I get a PPR so they can give me a different visa or, since I already have a visa to enter Canada, will they simply send me COPR? Also, if I receive PPR, do I need to send the passport or would I be able to proceed with landing process with my regular work visa? I am asking because I will be travelling to the US for a wedding in June so would be needing to have my passport with me vs sitting at the Ottawa VO waiting to getting stamped for a visa. Has anyone had a similar situation?

You will need to get an immigrant visa to land as a PR.
