Divorce/express entry

Hi,

I came to Canada in 2016 on study permit and my husband came after two years On open work permit. We got PR in June 2020 and I was the primary applicant.

Now for some reasons I want to get divorce.
My questions are:

1)Can I get divorce ASAP?
2) If I get married again, when can I sponsor my future husband?Do I have to wait 5 year to sponsor?

You need to demonstrate that you have separated and lived apart for at least one year before you will be able to file for divorce.

Do not get married to your new spouse until your divorce is finalized. Otherwise your new marriage will not be recognized.

There is no 5 year wait.

Thank you for the reply. I was confused as there are some rules for sponsoring a new-spouse if I have sponsored my current spouse under family sponsorship but we got PR thought express entry so those rules won’t affect us..???

There is a lot of information on this page. I don't know which specific rule you are referring to.

Won't apply to you as you did not sponsor your soon to be ex.
