Divorce Decree or Divorce Certificate help

My husband is in the United States and we are just finishing up his paperwork. It asks to send in a Divorce Certificate, would a certified copy of his divorce decree work, it has the Judges signature on it and a certified stamp. Just wondering as it is way quicker to use the decree then wait for Austin Tx to process it and mail it out as this is the last thing we are waiting for.

Hey I am in the same boat, can u please let me know what did u do. I am in Houston and in middle of harricane , there is no way for me to go to Austin and all offices are closed till further notice. I only have time till 01/09/2017. Your help would be really appreciated.

I just sent in a certified copy of his decrees, 2 marriages before me. I spoke to the county clerks at both courthouses and paid over the phone with my credit card and they mailed them out to me that day. Obviously with the weather you are getting it may be difficult for you to do this. I did realize after I did this that the copies he received at the time of his divorce were certified as well. If you can find the original ones it may save you time.

Hi @Alurra71 just wanting to get some insight on this. I ran into trouble. I just found out that we do not have my partners divorce certificate, what we have a is a final divorce order. Can we sumbit that copy of the final divorce order instead of a divorce certificate? we are ready to submit our application.

If you're talking about the one that the judge signed decreeing that the divorce is final then it should be fine.

it just says "final divorce order" and it is digitally signed by the judge. do you know how long it takes to get a divorce certificate?
