2. How long does it take to study and be prepared to pass the Citizenship test - is a simple weekend study or a gradual month long study?

2) Start reading/studying the Discover Canada guide. While you are doing so you will some across some sections and remember relevant questions that you saw in the practice tests.
3) As you are reading the Discover Canada guide, keep doing the practice test from time to time.
4) Once you finish reading the Discover Canada guide, flip it back to page 1 and read it all over again, and while doing so keep doing the practice tests.

This is how I approached it and my test was a piece of cake!
