CIC processing is seriously confusing and partial. Students who have spent a lot of money just because they dreamt of quality education, fair chance and transparent decisions get nothing but disappointment.

And then they say you are simply unlucky. All it takes is a wrong judgement, a careless decision, or a silly human error to destroy someones claim to achieve dreams .

I am personally going through so much stress and confusion from past 65 days that some person with a weak heart if put in the situation would have lost hope.

I came to canada completed two different diplomas , both from eligible institutions (Proper DLI) and yet was refused PGWP due to absurd reasons. I had to hire a lawyer, pay money for a mistake that is not even committed by me . I had to go through a trauma of leaving my job and spend useless days and then weaks waiting for the result of reapplication. Finally they accept there mistake just to another and this time they approve an application and give one year of work permit that is not even equal to the amount of period i have studies.

I don't know whats wrong with these officers, either they are just angry with their jobs or just do not enough know how of making correct decisions. Now again i would have to contest against there decision and fight for partial decisions taken by CIC.

I am saying all this because many of my friends who have done same course with same timeline received 3 year PGWP without any issue. Maybe visa officers do not like my name. I am just sick and tired of fighting against incomplete and partial decisions. If i wouldn't have invested so much money and time in this country , i swear i would do anything to go back in time and change my decision of coming here.

Disappointment PGWP one year after 20 months of continuous study

Very disappointing to hear that!

Could you share more details? Why was PGWP refused in the first place?

and who only one year of PGWP after that?

Were you expecting a 20-month PGWP? Clearly, you aren't eligible for 3-year PGWP. Moreover, I'm interested to know which program completes in 20 months. It's usually 12, 16, 24, 36 or 48 months for post-secondary degrees.

Read below, he has mentioned it clearly. I guess OP has done 2 PG diplomas and is eligible for atleast the duration of diplomas.

You're not the first and for sure you won't be the last.
As an advice, I'd recommend to all of you who are considering studying in Canada with the purpose of staying after graduation to look carefully what kind of program are you enrolling in. You might be tempted to do two different 1yr diplomas/PG and try to get a 3 years PGWP but you'll be very likely to have PGWP duration issues and you won't be able to do anything to change that.

Moreover, you only can get a single PGWP in your whole lifE. even if you study under a study permit in Canada twice or thrice you only have a chance. Getting a LMIA nowadays is actually complicated, don't waste the opportunity of getting a good PGWP.

need more details about ur situation but 1+1 usually would get 3 years work permit. Now was there a gap between the two courses . Why was ur case initially rejected? need complete profile to understand better

---Reason of refusal ----
Foreign students in Canada are eligible for a work permit for post-graduation employment if they submit an application within 90 days of issuance of notification that they have successfully completed all of the requirements for their course of studies or program. As your application was not mailed within the prescribed period of time, it has been determined that you are not eligible for a work permit in this category.
You submitted a letter from SAIT dated 18Dec2015 confirming graduation from the NT Certificate Program; however, you did not submit your application within 90 days as required for a Post Graduate Work Permit. You submitted a letter dated 10Jun2016 from Concordia University of Edmonton confirming completion of requirements for a Graduate Diploma in Information Security and the diploma was conferred on 14May2016; however, Concordia University of Edmonton is a private institution and therefore, graduation with a degree is required from it to be eligible for a Post Graduate Work Permit.

and who only one year of PGWP after that?

-- I am not sure why only one year now as I have completed one course that is one year long 3 continuous semesters and other one is. 8 continuous months of studies.. Even if they do not give me 3 years work permit. I am still eligible for 20 months .---

My refugee claim submitted 2 months ago and I am still waiting for my work peyand I am about to finish my money , I didn’t get social assistance due to my honor and I didn’t want to be burden of the government, but because of their delay to issue my work permit ,I am going through the really bad situation which is not fair for a refugee who has a lot of stress and lost the hope of coming back to hometown ,even I don’t know how to follow up my work permit
