Divorced Canadian pensioner is receiving disability pension benefits due to having a terminal illness. Will his former spouse get his disability pension benefits if he dies or can he make a will designating someone to receive this

This should have been addressed in any divorce settlement. If it isn't addŕessed in the divorce agreement yes it can go to someone else.

Should also mention that given that the person has been out of Ontario since 2017 they will have to wait 3 months to qualify for OHIP again.

This was not addressed when he filed for divorce on his own. His spouse was furnished information during the process from filing to approval. They had no property or assets to settle.

Will his pension benefits continue to be paid and can he make a will designating someone else to receive them.

Thanks

Former spouse will not qualify. Would have to be a current spouse or current common law partner if they meed eligibility requirements. Will is irrelevant.

He has no current spouse or common law partner. Will his disability benefits continue to be paid and to whom should this be given or can he make a will to designate someone

As Scylla mentioned above, a will designation is irrelevant in assigning Government benefits Legislation prevails, not a will
Why not have the individual call the CPP/OAS benefit line for further assistance 1-800-277-9914.
