Different File Number and cases status

I have received a letter from the visa office stating my case is been reviewd and found eligible for furthur processing. the file number in the letter is diiferent from the one i received in the e mail as an acknowledgement. is this thing normal? both file number starts with B

i have applied back in Feb 2010 and received e mail acknowledgement in May 2010, and a letter from visa office in May 2012 mentioning my eligiblity. but when i try to check my status online using CAS, i wont get any results..

what do i do in this case???

You should be okay with second file number provided from VO. Check other components whether you are putting correctly.
