Hi,

May i know what's the difference between: SIMON FRASER UNIVERSITY and FRASER INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE??????

SFU is public - FIC is private.

SFU has a good reputation. Most Canadians have probably never heard of FIC.

If you attend SFU, you can apply for an off campus work permit no matter what you are studying. If you attend FIC, you can only apply for an off campus work permit if you are in the Associate of Arts program.

If you have a choice - definitely pick SFU.

The difference between college and university is huge in most cases and is quite self evident. Moreover sfu is reputed university.

Hi,

Thn you are most likely applying in FIC not in SFU.

Agreed. You're applying to FIC - not SFU.

Hi,

Read again what Scylla has mentioned in his post. You will be in a high and dry situation specially at the time of applying for Off Campus Work Permit because in Private school (like FIC) not all courses get qualify for the Off Campus Work Permit. And you may also face problem during Post Graduate Work Permit application.

So, don't fall in trap of "FIC in association with SFU". Avoid FIC !

Rest is your choice.

Dear friends. thanks alot... i rang my agent and she told me that FIC is a college where by you have to study for the first year it is for mainly internatinal students who have not completed their full diploma or who are not allowed directly allowed into SFU. so after studying UTP II (for 1 year) you can go SFU....
What do u say im so confused... I asked her about the VISA OFFICER REFUSING IT. she said so many people have gone like that and now they are in SFU...
what should i do???? should i tell her to get me a letter from SFU/FIC that after 1 year of study in FIC i will be transfered/admitted in SFU?????

There's no way SFU is going to guarantee that you're allowed to transfer to their school after one year with FIC. This will depend on what courses you complete at FIC, your marks, etc. Many people do move from FIC to SFU after one year. But there's absolutely no guarantee that one year at FIC will get you entrance to SFU.
