Difference? [Record of Landing] vs [Confirmation of Permanent Residence]

Hello Everyone,

I have one simple question. What is the difference between Record of Landing and Confirmation of Permanent Residence?

I know those documents have the same function, to prove my permanent resident status. I want to know who gets what and why I did not receive the Record of Landing. I was from a "visa-exempt" country and applied a permanent residence "within" Canada. I received a "Confirmation of Permanent Residence", not Record of Landing.

I guess, since you have not landed as a PR, yet, which you must do by presenting the COPR at the border, you have not been issued a record of landing, yet.

CIC stopped issuing the Record of Landing in 2002 and replaced it with the COPR.
