Hi,

What is the difference between SDS and the generic category of study permit? Is there a difference as to how the application is submitted? Do the countries who fall under SDS can apply under the generic category?

thanks.

Go through this link: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...ry-residents/study-permits/direct-stream.html
  • Excluding the current pandemic situation, SDS processing times are much faster than the non-SDS permit.
  • SDS documentation is less than non-SDS.
  • For SDS you need to get a medical checkup, have a minimum of 6 bands in all sections of IELTS, deposit 10,000 CAD in a student GIC, and pay one year of your tuition fees. All of these before filing for your permit.
Is there a difference as to how the application is submitted?
It's the same more or less.

Yes
