I have a few questions to ask-

1. What are the differences between port of entry and inland claims and how the differences could affect the refugee claimant?
2. Are there advantages or disadvantages to either approach?
3. Are there any situations where one approach is more suitable?

Thanks!

  1. Inland claims are done at an immigration office after you have entered Canada. POE is done at the border when first entering.
  2. Inland allows you to consult with a lawyer before you submit. Otherwise the processes are identical.
  3. Hard to say. If it’s a valid claim, it should make any difference how you apply.
