I just recently found out that the Generic form (Imm0008) and Application to sponsor form (Imm1344) had to be filled out electronically and then validated. I didn't fill it out electronically nor validated it...I only printed out the forms and then filled it by hand before turning it into immigration. I am so worried now that I screwed this up and the whole process will be delayed. Any thoughts on this whether it really had to be validated or not? was filling it out by hand and not validating it ok? thanks.

As I mentioned in that other thread, yes, you need to validate those forms to generate barcodes. This, I think, is why they updated the IMM1344 form to include the barcodes.

This is from the CIC website:

IMM 1344 and IMM 0008:

Click on the “Validate” button at the top or bottom of the form.
Note: Validating the form before printing ensures you have answered all the questions and will avoid delays in processing your application.

A last page with barcodes and a signature line will automatically be created.
Print, sign and date the form.
Print on white, bond-quality and non-glossy paper
Use of a laser printer is recommended
Place the barcode page on the top of each individual package.

So, if I were you, I'd be contacting CIC to find out how you can send in those two forms with the barcodes.

Hi Lemondrop,

If only CIC was consistent with how they handle missing information. I forgot to include the 8 applicant pics with my application and so far they haven't returned it, after freaking out calling CIC a couple of times and reading the forum I found out that sometimes they return the application and other times they ask for the missing info and you do not lose your place in the queue.

When I called CIC the two representatives I spoke to said the same thing, that they didn't know what would happen that it could be sent back or not. They did also say not to bother sending the pictures because my file is not in processing they have no way of matching it up so it'll probably get lost.

Ohh and another thing I found out was that they do open the mail before they start processing so no news is good news

It really is the worst feeling :( I hope they dont send ours back.

I think they'll request you send the validated forms in. Honestly this will cause a delay but hopefully not long.

If you mailed it after MArch 31st, which I see it in your case, they may ask you to refill that form... I dont think they will return your complete application though...

Do I call the case processing center in Missisauga? I can't believe I made this mistake. So I just fill it out electronically, then validate, print and sign....I'll do that tonight and have it ready in cas I'm asked to resend that form...I really hope I don't they don't send back my entire application.

Make sure to put the barcodes on top for each IMM0008 and IMM1344.

Lemondrop, don't worry, it's not that big of a deal. You may get delayed a bit, but that's the worst that will happen.

And I stress again to others: complete ALL IMM forms electronically to avoid these kinds of mistakes. CIC clearly states they prefer the forms to be completed electronically...so just do it.

Thanks Fencesitter...maybe being delayed a bit might work in my favor cause we don't want to move til the summer of 2013, lol...but redoing things is going to be a pain. When you say to put the barcodes on top, doesn't the barcode appear on the first page? How many barcodes will there be in total from the two forms, generic application and sponsorship application. I'm assuming there will be two in total and I put the correct one for each form as the first page of each form right? I'm sure after I fill it out I will figure it out. Do I call the case processing center in Missisauga?

i have filled up my application by hand what will happen with my application i didnt include those barcodes this is very confusing

Lemondrop,

Please also remember to make sure that all the information entered on the original forms you submitted match the new forms with the barcodes! You definitely don't want any errors!

I doubt you will be delayed for long...as your file would already have been opened, so it should simply be a matter of the new forms arriving to CIC-M, matching them to your file, and continuing to process.

No big deal...just make sure to do it exactly as they want it this time around.

I definitely will make sure it matches my original forms...thankfully I photocopied them before mailling it off...almost didn't until you mentioned it, lol. I haven't noticed anything in my email box from them...I should check my junkmail also in case. Do I call the case processing center in Mississauga?

Yes, CIC-M.

Hi Lemondrop,

I printed and wrote everything out by hand as well... at the time I had printed out all the pages, there were NO barcodes and by the time I got everything written and sorted out and sent, there were barcodes (sometime between Feb and Mar 2012) My application got sent back to me and I was able to fill out the forms they requested ELECTRONICALLY with the bar codes and sent out again on the same day with all the other original forms included...I wouldnt worry too much as its prob only a matter of a couple weeks if it does get put to the back of the line but I would def recommend re-submitting your new electronic forms with bar codes along with copies of the original forms if you havent already done so to avoid having them sent back to you. Hope this helps!
